Foreign Minister Appointed

The Parliament unanimously approved today Tedo Japaridze on the Foreign Ministers position. 

Tedo Japaridze was the Secretary of the National Security Council in ex-President Shevardnadze?s government and previously served as Georgia?s ambassador in the United States.

Tedo Japaridze said, while addressing MPs that keeping strategic ties with the United States should be Georgia?s foreign policy priority, however he also stressed importance of ?normalization of relations with Russia.?

Tedo Japaridze took over the post from Irakli Menagharishvili, who filed resignation on November 28.

Along with Irakli Menagharishvili, the State, Interior and Finance Ministers of the Shevardnadze?s government have already resigned last week.
