Former Hostage Becomes Deputy Interior Minister

Interior Minister Giorgi Baramidze appointed on December 16 Petre Tsiskarishvili as the Deputy Interior Minister.

U.S.-educated Petre Tsiskarishvili of National Movement party was the member of the parliament and became publicly known after being kidnapped in 2001. He was abducted together with his fianc?e and was kept in detention in Pankisi gorge for couple of weeks.

Petre Tsiskarishvili also became in the focus of the public interest, when he initiated notorious fist fighting in the Parliament?s chamber last year. Later he apologized for the incident.
