U.S. Allocates Additional USD 14 million to Assist Georgia

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Lynn Pascoe informed the Georgian Government on December 18 that the United States would commit USD 21 million to assist Georgia through its current period of transition.


During his December 3-6 visit to Tbilisi, he announced USD 7 million in assistance, and the amount he announced on December 18 represents an additional USD 14 million which will largely be used to pay salaries and pensions.


The Georgian leadership informed U.S. representatives of the significant progress it is making in fighting corruption and moving Georgia on the path of steady economic development.


As the news release issued by the U.S. Embassy to Georgia reads, the United States Government looks forward to working closely with the Interim Government and the future government to encourage an ambitious reform agenda that will bring transparency, accountability and prosperity to Georgia’s economy.
