CIS Observers Hailed Elections in Georgia
Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Yuri Yarov, who led the group of observers from the CIS counties, today gave a positive assessment to the January 4 snap presidential elections in Georgia.
“Although we observed a number of minor violations during voting, still these violations can not have a significant effect on final results of the elections,” the CIS Executive Secretary said at a news briefing on January 5.
He stressed that the violations were basically caused by the poor training of the members of the election administrations.
Yuri Yarov said final report on the results of the monitoring would be published in the nearest days.
The observers from the OSCE will also give the preliminary assessment elections in Georgia at the press conference later today.
