Parliamentary Polls’ Date Agreed
Interim President Nino Burjanadze held meeting with the representatives of the Parliamentary factions late on January 8 to discuss date of parliamentary elections.
After the meeting the leaders of the parliamentary factions said that they agreed to hold parliamentary polls for March 21.
The leaders of the Socialists and Industrialists factions did not attended the meeting. The New Rights were the only group, which was against of holding elections in March and demanded later date for the polls.
Unexpectedly, the Revival Union, led by Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze, also agreed to hold polls for March. Earlier, Revival demanded to conduct elections in June.
Interim President Nino Burjanadze will officially announce the date of parliamentary elections on January 9.
