Abkhaz Side Sets Conditions for Peace Deal

Abkhaz side set conditions for resumption of peace talks with the Georgian side. It is expected that the conditions will be handed over to Ambassador Heidi Tagliavini, the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to Georgia, who is expected to visit Abkhazia on January 12.

According to the Abkhaz new agencies, the Abkhaz side wants from the new leadership of Georgia to officially reject use of force as a mean of conflict resolution. The Abkhaz side also demands disbanding of the Georgian guerrilla groups.

The Abkhaz side also proposes to sign an agreement on non-resumption of hostilities in the conflict zone.
