Javier Solana Arrives in Tbilisi

Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), will arrive in Tbilisi on a two-day visit today.

He will hold meetings with Interim President Nino Burjanadze, President-elect Mikheil Saakashvili and State Minister Zurab Zhvania.

“The meetings are intended to consolidate high-level contacts between the EU and the new political establishment in the country and to assure Georgia of the EU’s continued support,” the EU statement said.

The issue of upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for March 28 are also planned to be discussed during the visit.
