President Signs National Accord

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili signed today a declaration on National Accord and Reconciliation.

Under the declaration, about 30 supporters of Georgia’s first President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, who was ousted as a result of military coup in early 1992, will be pardoned. All of them were arrested during and after the civil war in early 90s.

Along with the Georgian officials, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church Ilia II also attended the signing ceremony, which was held in the Kashueti Church in downtown Tbilisi.
