U.S. Official, Georgian MPs Discussed Defense Reforms

Otar Shalikashvili, Chief Advisor for the Georgian Military Issues to the U.S. Secretary of Defense, held meeting with the members of the Parliamentary Committee of Defense and Security on February 10.

After the meeting the U.S. advisor told reporters that the reforms in the Defense Ministry were discussed during the consultations.

For the first time, Georgia will have a civilian as Defense Minister, as a part of reforms of the Georgian Defense Ministry and armed forces.  According to the unofficial reports Gela Bezhuashvili, former Deputy Defense Minister will be nominated for this post.
