Burjanadze Discussed Abkhazia at OSCE PA Meeting
Speaking at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Winter Meeting Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze raised the issue of Abkhaz conflict resolution, saying that the Georgian authorities are ready to grant Abkhazia a status of a wider Autonomy.
“Today, when there is a political will of conflict resolution, the assistance and active participation of the international community is rather important,” Burjanadze said at the meeting.
She also discussed the current situation in Georgia and the plan of actions of the new government.
The Parliamentary Chairperson stressed the importance of maintenance of order in Georgia, as well as eradication of corruption, improvement of the investment environment and integration into the European structures.
On 20 and 21 February 2003, more than 240 parliamentarians from 50 OSCE participating States met in the OSCE premises in Vienna for the Parliamentary Assembly Winter Meeting. Parliamentarians were briefed on current OSCE developments by senior officials including the OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Secretary General.
During the visit Nino Burjanadze held meetings with the Chairman of the Austrian National Assembly and the Second Chairman of the Austrian Parliament, who pledged cooperation with the new authorities of Georgia.
