Georgian Peacekeepers Return from Iraq
The first detachment of 70 mine-clearing experts and doctors, who were sent to Iraq last August and were stationed in a town of Tikrit, will return to Georgia today.
New detachment of 200 Georgian peacekeepers is planned to leave for Iraq in early March.
Peacekeeping troops’ departure was originally scheduled for early February, but was twice postponed due to technical reasons.
Georgia intends to send 500 more soldiers to Iraq by summer 2004.
