Police Officials Resign
Chief of the Georgian traffic police Shalva Ogbaidze filed resignation, after being interrogated over the illegal import of cars.
Ogbaidze, who was the member of Premier Zhvania’s United Democrats party, was appointed as chief of traffic police last December.
On February 27 Ogbaidze was interrogated regarding illegal import of 70 cars in December.
Another Interior Ministry high-official Davit Todua, who led the passports department and previously served as a Deputy Interior Minister also filed resignation.
He was also interrogated last week regarding the illegal import of cars.
According to the Interior Ministry up to 15,000 cars were illegally imported to Georgia in 2000-2003.
