Relatives of Kmara Activists Released in Adjara
The Batumi court today released two relatives of the Kmara youth movement activists.
Both of them were detained by the Adjarian law-enforcers in Batumi late on January 6 for alleged keeping of arms.
However, the Kmara movement, which demands Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze’s resignation, denied accusations and claimed that the arrests aimed at mounting pressure on opposition.
On February 27 the Tbilisi court also released two members of the Revival party, led by Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze, who were detained in Tbilisi on February 24 for illegal possession of firearms.
The Revival activists denied accusation and also claimed that the arrest was politically-motivated.
