Saakashvili Vows to Curb Illegal Armed Groups

President Saakashvili attended today a military parade and exercises at the Vaziani military base, near Tbilisi, marking 12 anniversary of the 11th brigade of the Georgian Armed Forces.

Soldiers trained by the U.S. military instructors in frames of Georgia Train-and-Equip Program (GTEP) are among the 11th brigade.

“There are illegal armed groups in the country and everybody should know that they are traitors and they will be punished,” Mikheil Saakashvili said while addressing the servicemen of the 11th brigade.

Earlier President Saakashvili categorically demanded from Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze to disband his paramilitary forces.
