Ex-Tax Chief Released

Former chief of the Tax Department Iase Zautashvili was reportedly released from custody on May 22nd after paying USD 300 000 to the state budget.
 
Iase Zautashvili, who was accused of misuse of power and misappropriation, surrendered to the police on the 30th of March and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.  
 
Along with Iase Zautashvili, the General Prosecutor?s Office has brought criminal charges against ex-chief of the Customs Department, Levan Kistauri, who was also accused of misuse of power, and in turn arrested on March 23.
