Zhvania, Solana Met in Brussels
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania, who participates in the Donors? Conference to support Georgia in Brussels, met with Javier Solana, the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, on June 16.
The EU foreign affairs chief?s press office reported that Javier Solana and Zurab Zhvania welcomed the recent inclusion of the South Caucasus in the European Neighborhood Policy, which ?is considered to be an important development in helping Georgia and the rest of the region to move closer to European standards.?
The current situation in Adjara, in light of its recent return to central government control, and possible developments concerning the situation in breakaway South Ossetia and Abkhazia were also addressed during the talks.
Javier Solana and Zurab Zhvania also discussed the general situation in the South Caucasus and relations with neighboring countries.
