Georgian Speaker Ready for Dialogues with Russian MPs
At a Parliamentary session on October 12 Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze expressed her readiness to hold bilateral dialogues with Russian MPs over the relations between Russia and Georgia.
“I have numerously invited a Russian parliamentary delegation, including my counterpart Boris Grizlov, to Georgia. If our Russian colleagues cannot come to Georgia, we can send our parliamentary delegation to Moscow to discuss the current problems existing between the two countries,” Nino Burjanadze said.
On October 7 the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) held debates over Russo-Georgian relations. This initiative of the Georgian side was criticized by the Russian MPs who demanded to discuss bilateral issues within the frames of a parliamentary commission from the two countries.
