Zhvania: Disarmament to Top High-Level South Ossetia Talks

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania confirmed on October 21 that he will meet South Ossetian de facto President Eduard Kokoev.  The meeting is scheduled to take place in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi sometime in the first week of November.

?Disarmament of the conflict zone will be one of the main topics of the talks,? the Georgian Prime Minister told Civil Georgia.

He also said that the security of the population living in the conflict zone is a top priority for Tbilisi and added that people should not live ?under permanent stress,? which is caused by the recent shootouts, which sporadically erupt in the conflict zone.

The top-level meeting between Kokoev and Zhvania was agreed by the quadripartite Joint Control Commission in Tbilisi on October 20.

Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Goga Khaindrava, who represents the Georgian side in the JCC, said on October 20 that a top-level meeting will take place in Sochi presumably on November 5-6. ?Not later than November 10,? he added.
