Parliament Endorses New Law on National Security Council

On November 11 the Georgian Parliament approved amendments to the Law on the National Security Council, thus bringing the law in compliance with new constitutional norms.

According to the law, the Prime Minister becomes a full-fledged member of the Security Council, while the Parliamentary Chairperson, who was a member prior to the law, will attend the Council sessions as an honorary member of the NSC.

The top leadership of the defense and security structures, as well as the Foreign Minister, will be represented in the NSC, which is chaired by the President.
