Abkhaz Parliament Sides with Opposition

A statement adopted by the Abkhaz Parliament on November 17 reads that the November 12 events, which saw the opposition capture the governmental offices in capital Sokhumi, ?can not be regarded as a coup.?

By virtue of this statement the Parliament has sided with opposition leader Sergey Bagapsh. Earlier, both outgoing President Vladislav Ardzinba and Prime Minister Nodar Khashba described the November 12 events as ?an armed coup.”
