Saakashvili: Ukraine’s Right Choice to Help Georgia

On December 25 Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili made a comment regarding the upcoming Ukrainian presidential revote, scheduled for December 26, and said that “the right choice [made by] Ukraine” will have a positive impact on Georgia.

“Ukraine’s victory and right choice will be a strengthening of us as well,” Saakashvili told reporters on December 25.

“I have requested that the Patriarch [of the Georgian Orthodox Church Illia II] prey for the Ukrainian people,” he added.

President Saakashvili has never made a secret of his sympathies towards the Ukrainian opposition leader Victor Yushchenko.
