New Cabinet Faces Confidence Vote

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania presented the new cabinet and its action plan for approval to the Parliament on December 27.

?The appointment of new ministers does not mean that we will change our policies,? Zhvania said at the Parliament?s session on December 27.

He said structural changes in government should end in 2005 and must result in a ?reduction of bureaucracy.?

Zhvania stressed that particular attention should be paid to strengthening and reforming the defense structures, ?in order to make integration into Euro Atlantic structures more realistic.?

The Prime Minister also said the government will focus on the implementation of judicial reform and the establishment of effective self-governance.
