Police Reform Needs Summed up at OSCE Seminar in Tbilisi

Georgian Interior Ministry officials, international and local experts gathered on February 28 at an OSCE-organized roundtable in Tbilisi to sum up the OSCE?s police reform expertise, the OSCE Mission to Georgia reported.


The event will pull together the findings of February?s extensive needs-assessment, which was performed by the Mission and the OSCE?s Strategic Police Matters Unit at the request of the Georgian Government.


Discussions will cover the directions identified in the preliminary assessment, such as strengthening of the Ministry of the Interior personnel management system; development of a new concept for basic police training; and introduction of modern community policing concepts.
