Russian MP: Russia does not Trust Georgian Authorities

Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee for International Affairs Dmitry Rogozin said the Russian military bases in Georgia “are the guarantee that in close proximity to the Russian borders and three hot-spots – Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Karabakh – the situation would not be destabilized and that no unfriendly foreign military forces appear here,” RIA Novosti news agency reported.

“Russian authorities do not trust Georgian authorities and do not believe that Georgia would remain a neutral state,” Rogozin added.

Commenting on a possible resolution by the Georgian parliament he said “our Georgian colleagues should stop hissing and realize that…security can only be mutual.”
