Breakaway Abkhazia Holds Military Maneuvers

Authorities in Georgia?s breakaway Abkhazia are holding military exercises, according to Russian news agencies.


De facto Abkhaz Defense Minister Vladislav Eshba told the RIA Novosti news agency that the military exercises, which will last for a week, aim at increasing combat readiness of the Abkhazian troops.


Vladislav Eshba also said that the UN Observers Mission to Georgia and Russian peacekeeping troops deployed in the Abkhazian conflict zone have been notified about the scheduled maneuvers.
