Georgia Protests Russian Cellular Company in South Ossetia

The Georgian authorities raised concern over the operating of the Russian cellular company Megaphone in breakaway South Ossetia.

?Each foreign company which enters the Georgian market should apply to the National Regulatory Commission for Communications of Georgia for a license,? Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Nika Tabatadze said on August 9.

?Cellular communication services can be developed in Georgia only through a permit by the National Regulatory Commission for Communications of Georgia. However, Megaphone has not applied to the Commission so far,? Giorgi Ratishvili, a spokesperson for the Commission, told Civil Georgia.
