Georgian Speaker Condemns Putin-Khajimba Talks

Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze condemned meeting between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister breakaway Abkhazia Raul Khajimba, which took place in the southern Russian city of Sochi on August 29.

Raul Khajimba is one of the favorite candidates running for the internationally denounced presidential elections in the unrecognized republic, scheduled for October 3.

?This is a very important signal, when the Russian President meets with the favorite presidential candidate of the unrecognized republic. Now we have to wait the official statement of Moscow, whether Russia recognizes or not upcoming presidential elections in Abkhazia as legitimated,? Nino Burjanadze told reporters on August 30.
