Georgian Soldiers Detained in South Ossetia

Four Georgian servicemen were detained near the Ossetian village of Prisi in the South Ossetian conflict zone late on September 23.

Reports cite that Russian and Ossetian peacekeepers were not informed in advance concerning the movement of the Georgian servicemen near the village as a reason for their detention.

Aleksander Kiknadze, commander of the Georgian peacekeeping troops stationed in the conflict zone, told reporters late last night that the Georgian servicemen will be freed early on September 24.
