Geostat: Annual Inflation -2.1% in April
Georgian’s inflation slipped to -2.1% year on year in April, a third consecutive month of annual deflation, according to figures released by the state statistics office, Geostat, on May 3.
There was 0.03% deflation on a monthly basis in April.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation on an annual basis dipped to a negative 8.1% and prices on communication services declined by 4.9% y/y in April.
Prices on meat, however, increased 8% y/y in April.
Transportation prices also rose 13.1% y/y in April, according to Geostat.
Georgia’s annual inflation rate slid into deflation for the first time in thirty months in February to -2.1% and annual deflation was at 2.2% in March.
