Russian Peacekeepers’ Exercises in Abkhazia

(Tbilisi, May 24, Civil Georgia) – Russian peacekeepers deployed in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone hold military exercises in Tkvarcheli district of breakaway Abkhazia on May 24.

Russian media sources report peacekeepers will train in establishing of the checkpoints and in counter attack maneuvers.

Russian peacekeepers’ intention to establish additional checkpoint in Georgian’ controlled Kodori gorge, breakaway Abkhazia in April caused protest of Georgia and the Russian troops had to leave the gorge.
