Georgian, Russian Experts Consult on Peacekeepers’ Mandate
(Tbilisi, May 27, Civil Georgia) – Experts from Georgian and Russian Foreign Ministries hold consultation on May 27-28 in Moscow concerning the changes of the Russian peacekeepers’ mandate, deployed in Abkhazia under the auspices of the Commonwealth of Independent States [CIS].
Georgian side demands expending of the security zone in Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia and involvement of other CIS countries in the peacekeeping operations.
Russia has nothing against the internationalization of the Peacekeepers’ contingent in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone, Russian President’s envoy for the Abkhazian conflict resolution Valeri Loshchinin stated on May 23 in Tbilisi.
