Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Visits Breakaway S.Ossetia

After visiting Sokhumi earlier this month, Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev, arrived in Georgia’s another breakaway region of South Ossetia on June 18 for a two-day working visit, Tskhinvali-based news agency, RES, reported.

Accompanied by leader of breakaway region Leonid Tibilov, Nurgaliyev visited Akhalgori, a district which before the August, 2008 war was under Tbilisi’s control, where he toured several facilities being rehabilitated with the Russian funding, including a local hospital.

Nurgaliyev, who was appointed as deputy secretary of Russia’s security council in May after serving eight years as Interior Minister, said that Russian President’s aide for social and economic issues of Abkhazia and South Ossetia would visit Tskhinvali to discuss further assistance programs.
