(Tbilisi, January 14, Civil Georgia) – Georgian State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania visits Russia on January 14. He is to meet his Russian counterpart.
President Shevardnadze stated today that this is working visit and Security Minister will discuss issues of cooperation to combat terrorism.
“Internal Affairs Minister Koba Narchemashvili also plans to visit Moscow and meet Russian law enforcers,” Eduard Shevardnadze state at the briefing on January 14.
It is anticipated that the situation in Pankisi gorge will be discussed during the visit of Georgian Ministers.
Moscow blames Georgian of harboring Chechen fighters and Arab mercenaries in Pankisi.
Situation in the gorge is tense at the moment, where local population protests demanding from the law enforcement agencies to eradicate criminals’ activity in the gorge.
