Protesters Block the Central Avenue, Demand Electricity

(Tbilisi, January 24, Civil Georgia) – Georgian capital’s central Rustaveli Avenue is blocked by the local residents . Protesters demand increased electricity supply.

Protesters say that electricity is supplied to the central district for couple of hours a day, in spite of timely payments to the providing company.

U.S.-based AES-Telasi, owner of Tbilisi electricity distribution network recently came under increased criticism of the activist goups. They claim the company does not fulfill its contractual agreements with the households and misinforms the public on a total volume of available electricity supply to increase tarrifs.
