(Tbilisi, February 7, Civil Georgia) – National-Democratic Party of Georgia splits as chairman of the party Irina Sarishvili-Chanturia dismissed one of the prominent party activists Jondi Bagaturia from the party’s membership.
Jondi Bagaturia, member of Tbilisi [Georgian capital] Sakrebulo [city council elected by the citizens], and his supporters do not recognize Bagaturia’s dismissal from the party membership as a legal act.
On February 7 at the party meeting conflict grew into a serious clash between the sides.
The National-Democratic party was one of the most influential political groups in Georgia in early and mid-1990s.
