(Tbilisi, March 20, Civil Georgia) – Georgian Parliament adopted resolution on Abkhazia at the special session on March 20.
The resolution condemns genocide of Georgians in Abkhazia and illegal privatization of property in the breakaway region by the unrecognized government of Abkhazia.
Parliament demands withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from the conflict zone and monitoring of Gudauta military base in Abkhazia.
Russia claims it already pulled out its military hardware from the base, while Georgian side requires international monitoring of Gudauta to confirm withdrawal.
According to the resolution Parliament should consider Abkhazia’s status within the Georgian state in the Constitution in 3 months. Abkhazia’s status is not considered with the Georgian Constitution at the moment.
