(Tbilisi, March 23, Civil Georgia) – Chief of Tbilisi [Georgian capital] Police Department Kakha Bakuradze unexpectedly resigned on March 22.
“It is impossible to work in this kind of conditions. Lack of finances does not allow us [law enforcers] affectively fight against crime,” Kakha Bakuradze stated at the press conference on March 22.
Resignation of the Interior Ministry’s high official coincided with Anticorruption Council Secretary Mirian Gogiashvili’s statement that law enforcement agencies are the most corrupted structures and dismissal of several high officials is anticipated.
Kakha Bakuradze denies that his resignation is connected to the Anticorruption Council Secretary’s statement.
