(Tbilisi, May 9, Civil.ge) – 22 political party submitted list of candidates to the Central Election Commission [CEC] to participate in the local self-governance elections scheduled for June 2.
Deadline of submission of the candidates’ list was May 8.
Among these 22 parties are two factions of the Citizens’ Union of Georgia [CUG], which submitted two lists of candidates; one is composed with the supporters of pro-Presidential Levan Mamaladze, influential governor of Kvemo Kartli region and another – with the supporters of Zurab Zhvania.
It is unknown yet which of these lists will be registered by the CEC, as the trail is still on concerning the rights over the CUG.
That is why, supporters of Zurab Zhvania submitted to the CEC second list from the Christian-Conservative party, composed fully with Zhvania’s supporters.
