(Tbilisi, May 10, Civil.ge) – Parliament adopted Presidential initiative on merge of Finance and Tax Revenue Ministries at the session on May 10.
155 MPs voted for the proposal and only 2 were against.
President Shevardnadze intends to propose Mirian Gogiashvili’s candidature on the post of the Finance Minister to the Parliament.
After the Parliament’s decision there are 18 ministries in Georgia instead of 19.
According to the draft on structural reorganization of the governmental bodies, prepared by the Anti-Corruption Council the number of ministries should be reduced to 10, and the state departments – from 29 to 7.
