Shevardnadze Wants Mass Media to Pay Less Attention on Local Elections

(Tbilisi, May 15, Civil.ge) – President Shevardnadze expressed surprise at the government meeting on May 15 concerning the increased interest of mass media towards the pre-election developments in the country.

“Let us tell the people about the government’s rehabilitation efforts carried out after the April 25 earthquake and not about which political party is taking over another,” President Shevardnadze said.

At the government’s meeting today efforts to assists the victims of the earthquake was discussed.

Georgian President called the independent TV channels to pay less attention to the local elections and inform population more on the earthquake results and measures carried out by the government.
