(Tbilisi, May 29, Civil Georgia) – Leader of the New National Movement MP Mikheil Saakashvili arrives in Strasbourg on May 29.
Saakashvili stated that he intends to meet the leadership of the Council of Europe [CoE] during the visit.
“I will talk with the representatives of the CoE about the political situation in Georgia and repressions of the opposition parties carried out by the government,” Saakashvili stated in the live interview to the Rustavi 2 TV channel on May 28.
The National Movement leader said that he would urge the CoE leadership carefully monitor the local self-governance election’s process in Georgia, scheduled for June 2, as the serious falsifications of the election’s results in favor of pro-governmental parties is anticipated.
