Number of Parties Demanding to Recount Votes Increase

(Tbilisi, June 12, Civil Georgia) – Mikheil Saakashvili’s National Movement appealed the Supreme Court on June 11 to cancel the Central Elections Commission’s decision concerning the announcement of the final results of the local elections in Tbilisi.

The National-Democratic Party of Georgia and the Socialist Party have also appealed the Supreme Court with the same request.

The political parties claim that the locals in Tbilisi were held with the total procedural violations that affected the final results of the locals in Tbilisi.

The National Movement received the 23,7% of the votes and comes after the Labors Party, which obtained the most of the seats in Tbilisi City Council – Sakrebulo. The National-Democratic and the Socialist Parties could not obtain any of the seats in Sakrebulo.
