(Tbilisi, June 21, Civil Georgia) – Major of Georgian State Security Ministry Simon Mchedlidze and Russian citizen Artur Liudkov were officially charged under the paragraph – illegal arms dealing. Tbilisi district court sentenced them with 3 months of preliminary detention on June 20.
Georgian law enforcers detained “Land Cruiser” carrying three anti-tank grenade launchers, nine anti-tank missiles and three installations for their launch on June 18, near Tbilisi. Simon Mchedlidze and Artur Liudkov accompanied the weapons.
Simon Mchedlidze says that the weapons were transported for the Georgian guerrilla group Forest Brothers, acting in breakaway Abkhazia.
