(Tbilisi, July 5, Civil Georgia) – State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze stated upon his return from Moscow today that the Rtsmunebulis (provincial governors appointed by the President) improves governance system of the country.
Jorbenadze commented on the Parliamentarians’ demand to cancel the governors’ position at all as most of them misuse the power.
He said that even the Russian President had to create governors’ position, because it was very important for the governance.
At the special Parliamentary session on July 4 the most of the MPs agreed that the governor should be elected by the population and not appointed by the President. Only the pro-Presidential Parliamentary factions reject the proposal to cancel governor’s position.
