Justice Ministry Presented Draft Law on Religion

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 16, 2002) – Justice Ministry of Georgia presented today draft law on religion in the office of the National-Democratic Party. Representatives of the political parties, Georgian Orthodox Church and MPs attended presentation.

The draft law determines the rule of registration of the religious groups acting in Georgia.

Irakli Andriadze, spokesman of the Georgian Orthodox Church told the reporters that in spite of some objections, the Orthodox Church welcomes the draft law.

According to the law religious group consisting of at least 50 members could be registered. Georgian Orthodox Church is against this article.
