Abkhazian Government in Exile Wants to Use Force for Peace

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, July 16, 2002) – Tbilisi-based Abkhazian government in exile urges the UN to implement provisions of the chapter VII of the UN Charter, which considers use of force to prevent aggravation of situation and conflict.

At the meeting of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, which is the legitimate government of Abkhazia in exile, Tamaz Nadareishvili, Chairman of the Council presented signatures of 1,2 million Georgian citizens urging the UN for implementing chapter VII provisions.

Nadareishvili said that the appeal would be sent to the UN Secretary General in the nearest days. On July 31 the UN Security Council will discuss the issue of Abkhazian conflict.
