Abkhaz Fighters Leaving Kodori – Jorbenadze Claims

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 14, 2002) – Georgian State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze said at the government’s meeting today that the Abkhaz fighters started to pull out from Georgina controlled Kodori gorge in breakaway Abkhazia.

According to Jorbenadze as the result of negotiations in Chuburkhinji with Abkhaz de facto Premier Anri Jergenia on August 13 the Abkhaz side will not demand in the future withdrawal of the Georgian border guards from Kodori gorge.

Jorbenadze said that the sides agreed to start the mine-clearing activities in the area where the Abkhaz fighters were deployed in Kodori.
