(Tbilisi, August 26 2002, Civil Georgia) Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov refused bombardment of Georgian territory again. “I remind you that such accuses are regularly repeated from Georgian side”, Ivanov told reporters on 26 of August.
He did not make comment on the US State Department statement where the US government expresses its concern about the bombardment of Georgian territory by Russian aviation. “It is not my responsibility to make comment about the statement of the US State Department. We have MFA for this purpose”, remarked Ivanov.
According to Georgian officials, one civilian was dead and seven wounded as a result of bombardments by Russian aviation on 23 of August.
