(Tbilisi, August 29 2002, Civil Georgia) “We exclude the possibility of involving armed forces of any other state in the Pankisi Gorge”, said Kakha Imnadze, press secretary of President Shevardnadze on August 28.
This comment was made after President Putin had offered Georgian side assistance in clearing Panksii Gorge from Chechen terrorists.
According to Imnadze, Georgia “will continue anti-criminal operation and clear the gorge from terrorists and criminals”.
