Russia Demand Extradition of 13 Chechen Detainees

(Tbilisi, August 29 2002, Civil Georgia) Russian General Prosecutor’s Office demanded from Georgia to extradite 13 Chechen detainees. Russian side sent to Georgian General Prosecutor’s Office 700 page material on them.

According to Paata Rtskhiladze, Head of the Interbational Relations Department, sent material is being examined by the Georgian side. Besides, lawyers of Chechens required the material to examine as well. Rtskhiladze said General Prosecutor’s Office will answer Russian colleagues in the near future.

Georgian border guard detained 13 Chechens for illegal entry to Georgian territory on August 3-5.
